The original was the first academic building on campus and included classrooms, the library, offices for the president, and temporary living quarters for faculty and students. Explore the university archives for photos and information on Oklahoma State University. Several new spaces were created by the renovation, especially on the North Plaza which was transformed from a parking area to a great place to relax, study or participate in any number of activities.

In addition to patio style furniture, the plaza includes an amphitheater that makes it a great venue for movie nights under the stars, concerts, sing-alongs and other special events. Inside, there's the totally revamped theater, student study areas, meeting rooms, offices for student organizations, a dozen dining options and expanded seating throughout.

Other important safety improvements were made to parts of the union that aren't as visible, including new wiring, plumbing, heating, air conditioning and elevators. Four wood-frame buildings were completed in using federal funds for the experiment station. Three of the structures are pictured in this photo to the right of Old Central, they included the college barn first building on campus , the chemistry laboratory, and the experiment station director's home.

Of course, Old Central came along a bit later. These were the first student housing facilities at a state-supported educational institution in Oklahoma. The Women's Building pictured provided residential and recreational facilities for female students, classrooms for domestic science and domestic arts courses, as well as a dining hall for all students. Today, OSU is located across five campuses and attracts more than 35, students from all 50 US states and around countries worldwide.

South of Tulsa is its Institute of Technology, founded in and which boasts a wide range of industry partnerships. It also has a branch campus in the north eastern city of Stillwater that enrols an additional 8, students. Here, students earn the same degree as at the Stillwater campus through junior-, senior- and graduate-level courses. Enrollment more than doubled from 10, in to more than 23, in the s. OSU became a statewide university system, adding branches in Okmulgee in and Oklahoma City in It also has a presence in every Oklahoma county through its extension offices and experiment stations.

From six graduates in , to nearly 5, annually today, the small college on the prairie has grown and prospered far beyond the dreams of its founders. OSU teaching, research and graduates are making a bigger impact on the lives of people around the world than ever before.
