When is dos santos vs mir

With brutal body shots, JDS created the opening for his right hand, knocking Mir down three minutes into the round after countering a kick. Heading into the bout, much of the hype for the fight came from Mir's two victories against Dos Santos' mentor, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. That fight is between them. I respect my mentor, but I came here to defend my belt, and I did it. Of all the heavyweights that won tonight, three have already fought him. Many are anticipating a rematch with Cain Velasquez.

Mir's third attempt at gaining the heavyweight championship ended with him getting knocked out for the sixth time in his career. It's hard to think he gets another shot at it, but this is the heavyweight division and one win can change any fighter's chances.

When Mir's name was announced as the replacement, I groaned because I knew this would happen. Mir has had a legendary career, but is clearly no match for Dos Santos. In the co-main event, the man Mir was supposed to face, Cain Velasquez, beat the dickens out of Antonio "Big Foot" Silva in the first round.

In my opinion, I would have rather seen a rematch of Velasquez and Dos Santos than him taking on Mir. I know Dos Santos just flattened Velasquez to win the title, but I could buy a rematch for the ex-champion, even if the loss was decisive. I think Velasquez is capable of giving Dos Santos a better fight, and his demolition of Silva did nothing to discount that thought. Antonio Silva. Roy Nelson. Dave Herman. Stipe Miocic.
